School ethos

The term ‘Fitrah’ stems from one’s innate disposition to (the Oneness of) Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala

Our learning philosophy is geared to embodying the qualities needed for pupils to beautify their inner and outer selves in order to excel in all aspects of their life.

The school’s ethos, therefore, is to ‘create confident, high achieving and ambitious individuals who look to contribute to the betterment of society’.  Through this, we seek to:

  • Help pupils understand, preserve and nurture their fitrah.
  • Demonstrate to pupils how to adopt a fulfilling, virtuous life through understanding the religion of Islam and its application in a pluralistic society.
  • Encourage pupils to work collaboratively for the common good and the pursuit of a just and thriving society.

More of this is explained in the school’s vision, mission and educational aims:

Our vision is to help children and young people:

  • achieve academic excellence
  • discover their gifts and abilities and give them confidence to use them
  • see how they can change things for the better in everything they do and through this, do the best they can using their gifts and abilities
  • want to make things better for other people, through understanding that everyone’s lives are better when we all help one another
  • improve how they get along with people they know well, and people from other backgrounds by:
    • accepting that other people are individuals and have different ideas and beliefs;
    • respecting other people’s feelings;
    • meaning what they say;
    • learning to trust others; and
    • showing other people that they can be trusted.

Our mission is to:

  • motivate every student to achieve their academic and personal potential.
  • inspire each student towards excellence in Islamic conduct.
  • foster and develop in every student, their service to their faith and to society by being loyal and translating this loyalty into services to humanity.
  • strive to achieve high standards in all aspects of learning.
  • develop and maintain the ‘morals and manners’ of the Prophet Muhammad (Allah’s Praise and Peace be upon him) by teaching through self-respect, respecting parents, elders and everyone around us the importance of rights and responsibilities.

Our educational aims are to:

  • provide a stimulating, varied environment.
  • create a caring atmosphere in which children learn good citizenship, are happy and encouraged to act independently and foster self-discipline.
  • encourage children to co-operate with, understand and care for others from all backgrounds and abilities.
  • ensure that every child, whatever their ability, has the right and opportunity to attend our school with appropriate resources and support wherever possible, and to have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • create, maintain and develop a physical and emotional atmosphere where children are stimulated to develop the powers of observation and lively, enquiring minds.
  • develop an understanding of decision-making and the need for rules, maintaining a continuous effort to improve standards for the general good and success of all.

We pride ourselves as a school that strives to do good in all matters and keep sincerity at the heart of all that we do. This is exemplified by the positive rapport we have with parents, partners and the fact that in the 2016/17 academic year we received no complaints.
